WPForms – PayPal Standard

Do you want to be able to accept payments using PayPal on your WordPress website? WPForms makes it incredibly simple to incorporate PayPal into your forms in order to process sales, contributions, and other transactions.

In this walkthrough, we’ll demonstrate how to set up the PayPal Standard Addon for usage with WPForms as well as how to make use of it.

Setting Up Conditional Logic for Payments

To illustrate the usage of conditional logic, let’s create a rule that will only initiate a PayPal Standard payment if the user checks a box indicating that they want to participate in our workshop.

To begin, we will begin by including a Checkbox Items section in our form. In this section, we will provide users with two options that they can select from in order to indicate whether or not they would like to sign up for the workshop. Yes, sign me up! no, thank you very much

You will need to launch the form builder and navigate to the Payments » PayPal Standard menu option in order to enable conditional logic for PayPal Standard payments. To enable conditional logic, under the settings that you customised in the step before this one, turn on the setting that is labelled Enable Conditional Logic.

When this feature is activated, a few more customization options will become available to select from. You are going to make use of these in order to design your conditional rule(s) that will determine when users should be sent to PayPal in order to finish the payment process.

For the sake of our illustration, we will only need to handle the processing of a payment if a user opts to sign up. In order to set up the rule for this, we will change the dropdowns such that they read: Proceed with processing this charge if. Would you be interested in registering for our workshop? is Yes, sign me up!

If a user chooses to register for our workshop after submitting this form, they will only be routed to PayPal to finish the checkout process on that website.

Frequently Asked Questions

In the following, you will find our responses to some of the most frequently asked questions that we get concerning the PayPal Standard Addon.

How do I test PayPal payments in my forms?

Submitting an entry and going through the process in the same way that your users will is the most effective method for testing your payment form(s). Before adding your form to a live page, you might consider configuring PayPal’s Test Mode, which gives you the ability to practise conducting transactions before actually beginning to accept payments.

What happens when a user submits a PayPal Standard payment form?

When a user submits a form that is integrated with PayPal Standard, they will be transported directly to the PayPal website so that they can finish making their payment.

At the same time, notification emails associated with the form will be sent out. As soon as the user submits your form, you will also be able to view their record in your database.

How do I know when a user completes their payment on PayPal’s site?

Pending is the state that will appear for a user’s entry on the WPForms Entries page until they have successfully completed their PayPal payment. This status will change to read Completed as soon as they are able to successfully finish their payment.

Will I be charged any fees for using PayPal Standard in my forms?

There will never be a fee associated with utilising PayPal Standard within your WPForms forms. However, depending on how much you use PayPal, the service could charge you additional fees. Make sure that you visit the fees page on PayPal’s website so that you may get more specifics.

Can I accept recurring payments with PayPal?

Recurring payments are not yet supported by the PayPal Standard Addon at this time. However, if you would like to take recurring payments, both the Stripe Addon and the Authorize.Net Addon are available to you as options.

That wraps it up! You should now be familiar with the steps required to enable PayPal Standard payments in WPForms.

Would you also like to send different notification emails to your users based on their selections in your form? Next, let me ask you this: would you also like to send different notification emails? Check read our guide on how to send conditional notifications through email for more information on the subject.
